Trad&Simp Chinese Conversion is an iPhone and iPad app by SHAOPENG LIU. This page is the terms of use and privacy summary.

Overview

On iPhone or iPad, convert a Simplified or Traditional Chinese ebook: horizontal or vertical layout, glyphs, and symbols, with a bilingual view so you can check the changes. The app writes a new file and leaves the original unchanged. Dictionaries and rules are the bundled OpenCC set, the same family as the calibre plugin.

SHAOPENG LIU runs no server that stores your books or converted files. Files stay on your device.

You can also convert on a computer with the separate calibre plugin Chinese Conversion. That plugin does not receive files from this app.

Summary only. This notice describes how Trad&Simp Chinese Conversion handles data on your device.

What we process

On device: files you choose (EPUB, HTML, or plain text), the converted copies, and settings such as interface language.
We do not collect personal information, usage analytics, advertising identifiers, crash reports, location, or account data. The app does not create an account and does not include analytics or advertising SDKs.
We do not operate a server that receives your files, settings, or device identifiers.
Conversion uses bundled OpenCC data. It does not need a network and does not send text to us or to anyone else.
If you use the system share sheet, iOS delivers the file to the destination you pick. We do not receive a copy. Apple’s processing follows Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Use

Only to convert, show, and let you check or share the result on your device.
Not for advertising or profiling unrelated to the app. SHAOPENG LIU has no backend that keeps your books or converted files.

Third parties

Books and converted files are not uploaded to SHAOPENG LIU.
We do not share data with third parties because we do not receive it.
A file leaves the app only when you share it or open it in another app, and only into the app you chose.

Retention

On-device files and settings stay until you delete them or uninstall Trad&Simp Chinese Conversion.
Uninstalling removes the app sandbox, including local results stored there.
Copies you share follow the app you sent them to.

Your choices

You choose which files to open. You can delete results, or remove the app.
Do not open unlawful, infringing, or files you do not have the right to use.

Children

The app does not collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this page changes, we update the text and the effective date. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Terms of use

By downloading or using Trad&Simp Chinese Conversion, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Purchases through the Apple App Store are also governed by Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
Trad&Simp Chinese Conversion is a paid product. After you buy it from the App Store, you receive a license to use it on devices associated with your Apple ID, subject to Apple’s rules.
Paying customers receive long-term maintenance and updates through the App Store: fixes, dictionary and rule improvements, and compatibility updates. Purchase does not promise a fixed release calendar or unlimited new features.
You need the right to open, convert, and keep the files you use. The app does not grant you copyright in that material, and it is not a publishing or hosting service.
Conversion is built to be checked: bundled OpenCC dictionaries, a log for each run, and a bilingual view. Results depend on the dictionaries, the file structure, and the source text. Keep your own backups.
Trad&Simp Chinese Conversion is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that every result will match what you expect. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost files.
Application source is published under GPL-3.0. That license covers the source code. Your App Store purchase is a separate license to use the compiled app.
Do not use the app for unlawful or infringing purposes.
